The Bopha Ziqine Green Hub, a horticulture group of 37 farmers; comprising of mostly women and youth; benefited significantly from support under the CAUSEWAY Project. Through ZADT’s financial literacy and access-to-finance training, members gained the skills to confidently engage financial institutions and prepare a strong group loan application.
With ZADT’s guidance, the group successfully secured a USD 3,500 loan from ZB Bank at a favourable interest rate of 1.8% per month, repayable over 12 months. The funding enabled them to purchase a 500L Jojo tank, drip irrigation equipment, and key inputs, strengthening the sustainability of their horticultural operations.
The group supplies vegetables to the Bulawayo market and conducts roadside sales along the Victoria Falls highway, reaching both urban and transit customers. Going forward, they plan to sell produce collectively as a single unit, a strategy expected to boost their bargaining power and open access to higher-value markets.
